Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, a South Shore practice specializing in unique programs that provide comprehensive treatment in orthopedic, spine and sports medicine specialties, is currently training staff members about the impact of COVID-19 on patients as they prepare a rehabilitation program.
Post COVID-19 patients have most likely suffered from severe deconditioning, poor endurance, lack of strength and loss of functional mobility and capacity. Physical therapists will follow protocol outlines for post COVID-19 care as laid out by the American Physical Therapy Association using CDC guidelines for protecting the staff and patients including temperature checks, constant disinfecting, wearing of masks and gloves, and rearranging the waiting rooms and treatment areas to maximize social distancing.
“We are pleased to be able to train out staff so that they have the proper knowledge to treat people who are suffering from the after effects of the COVID-19,” said Eric Edelman, PT, owner of Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance. “As the medical experts continue to learn more about any lasting effects from the virus we will continue to receive the latest information in order to provide the highest level of care to our patients.”
