Gilbane Building Company was recently honored by ENR New England at the Best Project Awards ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency Boston in Downtown Crossing on December 11. Project teams accepted three Awards of Merit in the higher education, K-12 education and interiors/tenant improvement categories for work at Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) in Boston; Slate School in North Haven, Connecticut; and PTC in Boston’s Seaport, respectively.

Additionally, the team from the WIT Center for Engineering, Innovation and Sciences (CEIS) project accepted the Excellence in Safety Best Project Award in recognition of their exemplary safety and security efforts. Constructed on a bustling campus in a tight, urban setting, the CEIS project required expert coordination and collaboration to ensure the safety of all involved. While the project team focused heavily on reducing potential hazards on site, considerable effort was also taken to mitigate risk to the greater WIT community; these measures included sidewalk coverings and lighting, as well as full-time traffic attendants.

WIT (L-R): Mike O’Brien, Gilbane; David Wahlstrom, WIT; Jim Kolb, STV; Neil Benner, Gilbane; Tom Chung, Leers Weinzapfel Associates

Margulies Perruzziw was the architect and interior designer for PTC’s 250,000 SF global headquarters, and Cresa provided site selection, lease administration, transaction management, workplace strategy, and project management.

The ENR Best Project awards are a series of special events across the country to celebrate and honor project teams that created the "best" regional projects of 2019. The projects are selected by juries of local prominent industry professionals. The winning projects will automatically compete in ENR’s national Best of the Best Projects competition.

PTC (L-R): Dominic Bisignano, Project Consultant; Andrew Prochniak, Gilbane; Janet Morra, Margulies Perruzzi; Dwight Patten, Cresa; Shaun Sullivan, Gilbane
