Hospitality Insurance Group, a mutually-owned insurance company providing insurance coverage through independent agents to restaurants, taverns, bars, social clubs and liquor stores throughout the East Coast celebrated its 10th anniversary on September 13th, an event attended by local political and business leaders.

The special celebration, held at the Hospitality Insurance Group’s offices at 106 Southville Road in Southborough, was highlighted by Citations of Commendation from State Representative Carolyn Dykema and State Senator James Eldridge, and provided company President/CEO Richard Welch and their team of 23 an opportunity to reflect on the past decade, and to look ahead as well. The

Hospitality Insurance Group team members were joined by local and state officials, as well as many representatives from within the insurance industry.

Hospitality Insurance Group’s 10th anniversary celebration represents an even longer association within the insurance industry. It is the descendent of the Massachusetts Liquor Liability Joint Underwriting Alliance created in 1985 to provide liquor liability coverage for high-risk customers. In 2008, the company was approved by the state legislature to form a mutual insurance company and for the past ten years has served a niche in the insurance industry by not only working with high risk clients but also by providing an expanded scope of services. In 2010, Hospitality Mutual formed Hospitality Insurance Company, which expanded the operations of Hospitality Mutual out of the state of Massachusetts. Today, Hospitality Mutual and Hospitality Insurance Company co-operate as Hospitality Insurance Group, providing commercial property, general liability, liquor liability and excess coverage in the states of Connecticut, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

In addition to its Southborough, Massachusetts headquarters, the firm maintains an office in Plantsville Connecticut as it has expanded to sell insurance in these additional states along the East Coast.

Hospitality Insurance Group works closely with Restaurant Associations and Agent Associations in all states they are licensed in.

“Today, we not only celebrate a milestone as a mutually-owned company, but also represent a true example of the entrepreneurial spirit encouraged in Massachusetts,” said Welch. He added, “All of us at Hospitality Insurance Group are proud of the role we have played over these past 10 years in helping to maintain the vitality of the hospitality industry in the region. We are deeply appreciative of the support we have received along the way and are delighted to have had this opportunity to celebrate and thank so many people.”
