Dr. Jonathan Sparks Joins McCarter & English's Boston Office as Partner
BOSTON -- McCarter & English announced today that patent attorney, Dr. Jonathan Sparks, has joined the firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property/Information Technology Group.

"His demonstrated skills in prosecuting a wide range of complex patent applications will enhance our premier and growing intellectual property practice and serve as a strong complement to the broad array of services we offer our clients."
Dr. Sparks counsels clients on general intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, domestic and foreign patent strategy, due diligence and patent lifecycle management. Dr. Sparks also assists clients with the preparation of patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions. His clients include individual inventors, small companies, large companies and academic institutions working in a variety of technological areas.

Dr. Sparks earned his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School, his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Texas A&M University and his B.A. in Biochemistry from Ithaca College. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Boston Patent Law Association, and the Boston Bar Association. He joins McCarter from Edwards Angell Palmer and Dodge. Dr. Sparks was named a Rising Star in Intellectual Property in Massachusetts Super Lawyers for 2009.
