Joseph H. Zwicker Appointed Co-Chair of ABA Securities Litigation Section Subcommittee
Boston, MA, February 22, 2010 - Joseph H. Zwicker, a Partner in the Government Enforcement & Compliance and Major Commercial Litigation Practice Groups at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, has been appointed Co-Chair of the White Collar and Corporate Investigations Subcommittee for the Securities Litigation Section of the American Bar Association (ABA). As co-chair, Mr. Zwicker will provide leadership, expertise, and experience to the ABA in responding to critical issues facing members and the legal profession.

Mr. Zwicker has more than 20 years of experience in federal and state government enforcement matters and complex business litigation. At Choate, Mr. Zwicker represents companies, officers, and individuals in grand jury and other proceedings brought by the Department of Justice, the SEC, the Attorney General's Office, and state regulators involving healthcare and securities fraud, False Claims Act investigations and other actions. He also litigates complex commercial disputes involving securities and other investment frauds, breach of contract, intellectual property, tort, accountant, and lender liability and civil RICO actions.
Prior to joining Choate, Mr. Zwicker was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Major Frauds Section of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles, California, where he investigated and prosecuted individuals and companies regarding complex federal financial crimes, including securities, accounting, and insurance fraud, as well as money laundering, obstruction of justice, and criminal tax offenses. As a prosecutor, he received numerous awards from the United States Attorney, the FBI, and other law enforcement agencies.
In addition to co-chairing the ABA's Securities Litigation Section Subcommittee,
Mr. Zwicker serves as an officer on the board of directors for Massachusetts Correctional Legal Services, which protects the civil rights of state and county prisoners in Massachusetts; as an officer and Chair of the Audit Committee on the board of trustees for The Boston Conservatory; and on the board for the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights.
Mr. Zwicker received his J.D., cum laude, Order of the Coif, from New York University School of Law in 1987. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia College of Columbia University in 1983.
