BiddingForGood, Viximo Among 8 From Mass. to Make AlwaysOn’s List of Top Media Tech Companies - CBL

BOSTON -- Several companies on Citybizlist's radar have landed on AlwaysOn's 2010 listing of the top private media technology firms.
The OnMedia 100 Top Private Companies listing compiled by the business media group honors advertising, media, marketing, branding and publishing at the forefront of technology.
The list includes eight companies from Massachusetts, four from Pennsylvania, two each from Maryland and Florida, and one each from New Jersey, Connecticut and Texas.
AlwaysOn's editorial team and industry experts selected the companies for the list. They were evaluated on five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value creation and media buzz.
"In a tough and uncertain economic year, technology companies have been determined to forge ahead and push the boundaries of innovation," said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO of AlwaysOn. "The companies on this year's list are ... using their unique insight to create market-making technologies."
The awards are to be presented at the OnMedia conference Feb. 1-3 in New York.

Massachusetts:
BiddingForGood, of Cambridge, enables online charity auctions. It won in the category of Community Platforms.
Viximo, of Cambridge, creates virtual goods used on social networking and gaming Web sites. It won in the category of Community Networks.
Turbine, of Westwood, creates software used on social gaming sites. It won in the category of Digital Publishers.
Goby, of Boston, is a niche search engine. It won in the category of Next Generation Search.
uLocate Communications, of Boston, designs located-based software applications for mobile phones. It won in the category of Next Generation Search.
HubSpot, of Cambridge, creates Internet marketing software. It won in the category of Technology Enablers.
Skyhook Wireless, of Boston, designs location-identifying software that works on a browser plug-in. It won in the category of Technology Enablers.
Lattice Engines, of Boston, designs analytics and business intelligence software. It won in the category of Analytics and Research.
SeeWhy, of Andover, creates Web site optimizing software that woos back users by targeting abandoned shopping carts and Web site visitors. It won in the category of Analytics and Research.
Connecticut:
PaperG, of New Haven, Conn., automates local ad creation, sales and management for online publishers. It won in the category of Advertising Networks and Exchanges.
Florida:
WrapMail, of Fort Lauderdale, is a marketing company that creates wraparounds for e-mails. It won in the category of Advertising Service Technologies.
Ion interactive, of Boca Raton, optimizes Web experience for companies by managing landing pages and microsites. It won in the category of Technology Enablers.
Maryland:
Millennial Media, of Baltimore, makes audio recording equipment. It won in the category of Mobile Marketing and Advertising.
Kajeet, of Bethesda, runs a pay-as-you-go cell phone service designed for kids. It won in the category of Community Platforms.
Pennsylvania:
Invite Media, of Philadelphia, runs a platform for trading of display media. It won in the category of Advertising Networks and Exchanges.
Redlasso, of King of Prussia, designs online broadcast media centers that enable easy hosting of audio and video, and quick searches of clippings. It won in the category of Next Generation Search.
Rhiza Labs, of Pittsburgh, designs data mining and business intelligence software. It won in the category of Technology Enablers.
WhereverTV, of Pittsburgh, has created a customizable global TV guide. It won in the category of Technology Enablers.
New Jersey:
Vidyo, of Hackensack, designs videoconferencing software. It won in the category of Technology Enablers.
Texas:
