The Four Points by Sheraton Norwood Donates Halloween Costumes to Children’s Hospital, Boston
No tricks. Just treats.
NORWOOD, Mass. - November 3, 2009 - Four Points by Sheraton Norwood, a business-class hotel and full-service conference center, announced today that it has collected and donated two large boxes of Halloween costumes to Children's Hospital, Boston for the third year in a row.
The Four Points by Sheraton Norwood challenged themselves with surpassing the number of costumes collected from previous years. This year, a total of 85 costumes were delivered to Children's Hospital, Boston, an increase of 40 over the 2008 donation. In order to accomplish this increase, the hotel added additional collection boxes to their largest function room in order to encourage attendees from large meetings to participate. Additionally, clients and vendors were invited to contribute, and hotel guests and employees have supported the effort as well. The original location of the donation box remained in the lobby and has been overflowing since the drive began on September 14th.
"No child wants to be stuck in the hospital over Halloween, so we strive to make the environment as festive as possible for them," said Nicole Morrison of the Childlife department at Children's Hospital. "We are very excited by such a generous donation of costumes from the Four Points by Sheraton Norwood. It gives our patients the opportunity to participate in an exciting holiday celebration they would have otherwise missed due to their stay here. They absolutely love it."
Donations include many new costumes for children of all ages, from infants to young adults. The costumes were delivered to Children's Hospital Boston on October 27th, 2009 by members of the Four Points by Sheraton sales team.
"We're very excited to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause for the third year in a row," said Kelli Desmarais, corporate sales manager at the Four Points by Sheraton Norwood. "When you work in the hospitality industry you have the ability to interact with so many people who in turn have so much to offer. Even something as simple as a costume can bring joy to a child going through a potentially frightening experience. It's a nice feeling to be able rally the good intentions of virtual strangers into something that, if nothing else, is a fun distraction from the reason these kids are in the hospital."
