Airband Comm - Backed by M/C, Key Ventures - Raises $2.5M of $4.5M Offering - CBL

BOSTON/WALTHAM -- Airband Communications Holdings Inc. has raised $2.54 million of a $4.51 million mixed offering of debt, options and warrants, according to a Reg D filing with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Dallas-based Airband Communications is a fixed wireless provider to businesses, with high-bandwidth Internet access and point-to-point private line services.
Investors in the company are Sevin Rosen Funds, with offices in Dallas and Austin; M/C Venture Partners, with offices in Boston ; Key Venture Partners, based in Waltham , Mass. ; New York-based Dolphin Equity Partners; and Crescendo Ventures in Palo Alto , Calif.
Principals named in the filing are executive officer and director Richard Pontin; executive officers Lynn McNeill, Tim Kinnear, James DaBramo and Jeffrey Owens; and directors Jeffrey Hinck, Jackie Kimzey, Thadius Mocarski and Salvatore Tirabassi.

Rick Pontin, President and CEO
Rick Pontin has more than 25 years of experience in technology and telecommunications. Prior to joining Airband, Pontin was executive chairman of Tangoe, a leading enterprise software company that provides Communications Lifecycle Management solutions to the Global 5000. During his tenure, Tangoe experienced significant growth in revenue and became profitable in four years. The company is considered by leading industry analysts to be the leader in the space. Prior to Tangoe, Pontin served as president and COO of Broadwing Communications, where he lead the company through a period of significant expansion, growing revenue by 60 percent, to more than $1.2 billion in a two year period. Pontin was also a technology innovator at Broadwing, launching the industry's first national fiber-optic based all optical network that won industry awards. Prior to Broadwing, Pontin was the president and COO of Cincinnati Bell where he was instrumental in launching DSL and integrated service bundles. Earlier in his career, Pontin served in executive positions at AT&T, MCI and Nextel, in sales, business development and engineering. Pontin received his Bachelor of Science and MBA degrees from Drexel University in Philadelphia .
Timothy Kinnear, Chief Financial Officer
With 22 years of financial experience in technology and emerging businesses, Timothy Kinnear leads all facets of Airband's corporate and operational finances, including relationships with investors, merger-and-acquisition activities, and banking relationships. Prior to joining Airband, Kinnear was the CFO at WiQuest Communications, where he raised $23 million from venture capital, negotiated agreements with strategic customers and partners, and led annual strategic planning and corporate development activities. Earlier in his career, Kinnear held executive and senior management positions at InnerWireless, Intrusion, Inc., and Cyrix Corporation, where he provided financial leadership for Cyrix's IPO. Kinnear received his Bachelor of Business Administration and Accounting at Texas Tech University .
Jim DaBramo, Executive Vice President of Field Operations
With more than 25+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry, James DaBramo is responsible for Airband's field sales, operations and account management. As executive vice president of field operations, DaBramo leads teams that sell to and support Airband's key segments including small- and medium-sized businesses, enterprises, wholesale carriers and channel partners. DaBramo joins Airband from FDN, a Florida-based CLEC where as founder and EVP of sales, he grew the company from zero revenue to over $150 million within six years. FDN merged with NuVox Communications in 2007 where Jim led the Wholesale, Government and MDU Sales Operations. Prior to that, he was a founder and VP of Sales & Marketing for Metro Access Networks (MAN) based in Dallas , Texas . MAN was purchased by Brooks Fiber Systems, a fiber optics services company based in St. Louis MO. Jim became the leading VP of sales for Brooks representing the Southwest region. Brooks was acquired by MCI WorldCom in 1998. DaBramo received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hartwick College in Oneonta , New York .
Jeff Owens, SVP and Chief Technology Officer
Jeff Owens is responsible for Airband network engineering, service delivery and customer support organizations. Owens has over 30 years of wireless experience and is a recognized senior executive and entrepreneur within the industry. Prior to joining Airband, Owens was VP of Product Development for InnerWireless, a leading company that specializes in the design and deployment of a unified wireless platform for in-building communications. Owens also held senior executive positions in engineering, technology, strategy and network integration at USA Mobility, Metrocall Inc. and ProNet Inc. While at ProNet, Owens played a principal role in the company's growth and development from start-up, through IPO and secondary offerings. Earlier in his career, Owens held management positions at Motorola and was an officer in the U.S. Army. Owens graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
