Choate Partner Elected VP of Board of Cambridge Nonprofit
Anne Marie Cook Elected Vice President of the Board of Directors for Community Legal Services And Counseling Center
Boston, MA, October 7, 2009 - Anne Marie Cook, a Partner at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, has been elected to serve as Vice President of the Board of Directors for Community Legal Services And Counseling Center (CLSACC), a non-profit agency in Cambridge providing legal assistance and mental health counseling to low-income individuals. Ms. Cook will serve as Vice President of the Board of Directors for a one-year term, and has been a member of the board for seven years.
Founded in 1970, CLSACC's mission is to provide free civil legal aid and affordable mental health services to low-income people throughout the Cambridge and Greater Boston area. While both staff and volunteers provide services, the Center relies on 100 volunteer attorneys and mental health professionals for its unique interdisciplinary approach of combining legal assistance and mental health counseling. The center serves 1,100 clients each year and benefits an additional 2,400 children and other family members, and is the only volunteer-based agency of its kind in the area.

Ms. Cook's practice at Choate involves representing life science companies in all aspects of their business including structuring and negotiating strategic joint ventures, collaborations, and licenses, and providing general legal support and advice in connection with research, development, and commercialization of pharmaceutical products, as well as advice on general corporate matters, including those related to contracts, securities laws, and compliance. She is named in The Legal 500 for venture capital and emerging companies.
Ms. Cook received her J.D. in 1988 from the University of Notre Dame Law School, summa cum laude, where she was the recipient of the William J. Hoynes Award for the top-ranked student in the graduating class. She received her B.S. in biology from Tufts University in 1983. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
