Needham Bank Donates to Norwood Historical Society’s Fred Holland Day House Restoration Project

Needham Bank, with branches throughout the greater Boston area is proud to announce its support of restoration work at the Fred Holland Day House with a donation to the Norwood Historical Society.

The Fred Holland Day House has served as headquarters for the Norwood Historical Society since 1935 and remains as one of the finest mansions from Norwood’s heyday in the late 1800’s.  It holds the distinction as the first building in Norwood added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Norwood Historical Society, a volunteer organization that receives no government funding, is in the midst of addressing restoration needs necessary to the exterior of the historic building, with the hopes of raising funds to replace the front portico and make repairs to water damaged portions of the structure.

“The generous contribution from Needham Bank along with our Holiday House Tour and annual appeal will allow this important work to begin in the spring,” said Don Ackerman, President of the Norwood Historical Society.

“It gives us enormous pleasure to support such an important project,” said Rebecca Schofield, Westwood Branch Manager at Needham Bank. “The Fred Holland Day House not only stands as a significant historic dwelling, but also serves as the repository for an extensive collection of books, photos and other objects pertaining to the history of Norwood and South Dedham.”
