Dennis Keohane

Dennis Keohane has been named Chairman of the Weymouth Chamber of Commerce, succeeding Immediate Past Chairman David Robinson.

Keohane, co-president of Keohane Funeral Home, Pyne Keohane Funeral Home and McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, graduated from Providence College with a degree in English and subsequently from New England Institute at Mt. Ida College in Newton where he majored in Funeral Studies.

He began his career in funeral service in 1993, working for his father Edward J. Keohane, at their family business Keohane Funeral Home in Quincy and Pyne Keohane Funeral Home in Hingham. In 2011, the Keohane family purchased the McDonald Funeral Home with three locations in Weymouth, later named McDonald Keohane Funeral Home. Keohane and his brother John now serve as co-presidents of the business and employ a staff of 50.

A member and former secretary/treasurer of the MA Funeral Directors Association, Keohane has long held a focus on community service. He is a long-time supporter of local youth sports and involved with the Weymouth Food Pantry’s Harvest Helpers Program and annual coat drive. Keohane Funeral Home is a primary sponsor for the Weymouth Veterans Military Role of Honor display.

“I’m excited for the future of Weymouth,” said Keohane, noting that with the development of Union Point and the widening of Route 18, Weymouth should become a destination for businesses. “My focus will be to work with residents and town officials to continue the beautification of the town’s entry ways, working to promote suitable development, and serving existing Weymouth businesses as they continue to grow.”
