Livible Acquires Boston's Fetch Storage, Readies for Years of Disruption to Self-Storage

11/20/17

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Livible, a leading provider of full service storage and storage technology, today announced the acquisition of Fetch Storage. Founded in 2010, Fetch was the leading provider of full service storage in the Greater Boston market. All their full-time employees have joined Livible and the operation has already been rebranded.

“Boston was strategic to our expansion plan as our East Coast beachhead. The key was hiring the experienced Fetch team. Now, with great teams on both coasts, we plan to expand southward in parallel,” said Livible founder and CEO Terry Drayton. “Our systems were designed for this so we completed the transition the weekend after closing. The former Fetch customers immediately gained online access via our web and mobile apps. They were used to having to call and email so their response has been very positive.”

Livible was the successful bidder for Fetch, beating out 11 other suitors. The Fetch shareholders decided to sell their rapidly growing business this summer when faced with the multi-million dollar cost of necessary technology improvements. “Livible already had the technology in place that our customers were demanding, but what impressed us the most was their clear plan for Fetch. And, unlike all the other bidders, they had successfully scaled consumer logistics start-ups.” said Mark Kushinsky, Founder of MaidPro and principal Fetch shareholder. “We share the assessment that full service storage will eventually become the dominant channel for consumers so when Terry offered us the opportunity to participate in that future our decision was obvious.”

“The key to disrupting a traditional industry like self-storage is to provide customers with an alternative that is easier, more convenient and costs less,” added Drayton. “Our approach is not complicated, we just treat customers the way we like to be treated. So our pricing is clear and listed on the website. We only charge for what customers actually store each month so if their needs change so does their bill, automatically. We don’t force them into a long-term contract and just go month-to-month. Our Storage Estimator™ gives them their exact cost for our services in advance and we stand behind it with a No Surprises Guarantee. We show-up on time and are in and out quickly. We’ve never lost a customer item and damage is very rare.”

About Full Service Storage

Full service storage is very different than self-storage as providers do all the work so the customer doesn’t have to. They come to the customers door in trucks to pickup whatever they need stored. Most take photographs of the items and add details to make it easy for customers to find what they are looking for. Most provide online access via the web and a few have mobile apps. Customer items are securely stored in warehouses in inexpensive industrial areas. When customers need some or all of their items back, full service providers return them to the customers door with most providing next day service nights and weekends. Pricing for full service providers ranges from 15% less than self-storage to a premium. The main customers are urban residents, especially millennials, Gen-Xers and downsizing baby boomers living in apartments, condos and smaller homes where storage is limited. It’s also popular with college students.
