Dr. Poonam Alaigh will lead business unit delivering bundled payment solutions to commercial insurers and self-funded employers

Remedy Partners, the nation’s leading bundled payment company, has named Poonam Alaigh, M.D., MSHCPM, FACP as Executive Vice President of Commercial Business Lines. She will help lead the Company’s ongoing diversification into new lines of business, serving commercial insurers and self-funded employers.

Dr. Alaigh brings decades of experience in the private and public healthcare sectors, including proven success in clinical and hospital practice administration, managed care and healthcare policy. As Acting Under Secretary for Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs, she helped oversee a healthcare system of more than 9 million enrolled veterans and an annual budget of more than $61 billion. Under Dr. Alaigh’s leadership, the Veterans Health Administration underwent a massive transformation to improve and increase access to care for all veterans.

In her new role with Remedy Partners, Dr. Alaigh will grow the Company’s proprietary bundled payment network and drive the commercialization of its comprehensive bundled payment solutions. She will also lead the roll-out of Remedy Partners’ software platforms that enable innovative new insurance offerings that rely on bundled payments for patient episodes-of-care. These new benefit plans offer health plans and self-insured employers the ability to achieve the price points of narrow networks without narrowing provider selection.

“As Remedy Partners diversifies and expands our capabilities and offerings beyond the Medicare program, it is critical to have the right expertise to translate our historical achievements with bundled payments into the commercial healthcare sector,” said Chris Garcia, Chief Executive Officer of Remedy Partners. “Dr. Alaigh’s background in healthcare administration and delivery will not only help us better communicate the significant impact of bundling programs to potential partners, but also help support payer and provider collaboration, which is essential to the success of value-based payment models.”

Prior to joining the Department of Veteran Affairs, Dr. Alaigh cofounded the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization, one of the largest ACOs in the country, and she served as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Additionally, she has held executive leadership roles at GlaxoSmithKline and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.

“I have spent my career exploring ways to bring about innovative and sustainable change to help improve the delivery of care to patients,” said Dr. Alaigh. “Remedy Partners provides a unique opportunity to help facilitate the transition from volume to value that is critical to sustaining our nation’s healthcare system.”
