Zagster Appoints Paul Martel and Tim Alborg

10/30/17

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 30, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Zagster, the nation’s leading provider of bike share systems, today announced the addition of two senior team members who bring with them robust experience overseeing core functions for global brands. Paul Martel joins as Vice President of Operations, and Tim Alborg joins as Director of Public Policy and Government Relations, adding depth to a strong leadership team focused on accelerating Zagster’s national expansion.

Martel comes to Zagster with over 20 years of operations leadership experience, including the past three years as a Regional Operations Manager for Google Express and, prior to that, seven years in senior leadership roles in fulfillment and operations at Amazon. He also spent a decade in medical products manufacturing and pharmaceutical distribution at Cardinal Health. Martel earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, went on to become a Harrier pilot and officer in the United States Marine Corps, and later earned his Master’s in Business Administration from Loyola University of Chicago.

Alborg was most recently Public Policy Manager for Lyft, where he oversaw political and policy strategy for Lyft markets and developed, organized and managed Lyft’s government affairs network. Prior to Lyft he founded and ran a political consulting firm after years as an executive with both the California and the Georgia Democratic Party organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Georgia State University.

The hirings come on the heels of Zagster launching its 200th bike share program. Zagster operates more programs than any other U.S. bike share provider, putting shared bikes within reach of more than 6.5 million city residents, business employees, and college students across 35 U.S. states.

“The addition of Paul and Tim is reflective of our torrid growth this past year and the opportunity we see in front of us,” said Zagster co-founder and CEO Timothy Ericson. “Cities increasingly are turning to Zagster to provide flexible, sustainable and fully-managed programs. Tim’s experience and relationships with city and state governments, and Paul’s experience in bringing complex operations to scale, are a perfect fit for us as we look forward to expanding Zagster to more people in more places.”
