XLP Capital Invests in Machine Learning

10/29/17

XLP Capital, an investment firm, announced today an open solicitation for advances in machine learning algorithms as part of its "AI Winter of Code" program. The program will award and sponsor research money to any algorithm researcher interested in working on a number of challenge contests. Submissions and coding samples must be made using the J programming language, a high level, high performance mathematical language with roots in functional programming languages like Lisp and vector computing languages like APL.

A long-time proponent of research in cutting edge analytical methods, XLP has assembled a formidable toolkit of customized, tailored linguistic analytic, machine learning, neural network, boosting and logistic regression methods that exceed the computational performance and accuracy of many popular Open Source toolkits, including Torch, Tensorflow, Theano, Keras and Caffe. Today's announcement initiates a new campaign to connect with cutting edge neural network researchers and enthusiasts around the world. XLP calls on all research scientists, hobbyists, programmers, and mathematicians to submit requests for research proposals.

Winning proposals will be given access to XLP's proprietary machine learning source code, granted research budgets, and provided access to algorithmic experts and advisors. Submissions must include: rationale for the project, expected improvements over pre-existing neural network methods, and anticipated budget. All submissions must be provided in the J programming language.
