NEEBC and IFEBP Present “Medicare and Social Security: What Your Employees Want to Know”

10/19/17

The New England Employee Benefits Council (NEEBC) and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) present “Medicare and Social Security: What Your Employees Want to Know.” The Thursday, November 9 webinar will explore the intricacies of these programs and detail what employers need to know to help employees make informed decisions.

“Medicare and Social Security choices present a multitude of challenges for even the savviest employees,” noted Patty Houpt, Executive Director of NEEBC. “Employers must educate employees about the complex details of each program, ensuring they make the right decisions for them and their family. Medicare missteps can result in costly penalties and coverage gaps, while improper social security elections can impact an employee’s future financial security.”

With millions of employees at or near retirement age, most have qualified for both Medicare and Social Security. Join Mark Holloway, Senior Vice President and Director of Compliance Services at Lockton Companies, and Bert Kingsley, President of Lockton Retirement Services New England, to learn more about these bedrock programs. The webcast will explore:

  • Medicare's four main parts
  • Limits on incentivizing employees to take Medicare
  • Why it rarely makes sense for aged active employees to elect Medicare...but how they can safely enroll later (Why your Medicare Part D filings matter)
  • Special traps for the unwary involving health savings accounts
  • Issues to consider before starting Social Security retirement benefits

The November 9 webinar will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 pm EST. For more information about the event and to register, visitwww.neebc.org and click on the event calendar on the home page. Registration can also be done via phone or email at 781-684-8700 or admin@neebc.org.
