BMC HealthNet Plan Awarded MassHealth MCO Program Contract

10/6/17

Boston Medical Center (BMC) HealthNet Plan has been selected by MassHealth to manage primary, behavioral, pharmacy and specialty care for members of the MassHealth Managed Care Organization (MCO) program on a statewide basis. The contract is effective March 1, 2018 and runs for a five-year period through December 2022.

“BMC HealthNet Plan has enjoyed a 20 year collaboration with MassHealth, and it is an honor to be able to continue to serve the MCO program,” said Susan Coakley, President of BMC HealthNet Plan. “We look forward to continuing to work alongside and in partnership with our providers to offer quality health care coverage to the underserved in Massachusetts.”

The MCO program procurement is part of MassHealth’s restructuring efforts, which also includes implementing the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program. In addition to its MCO contract, BMC HealthNet Plan participates in four of the 17 MassHealth ACOs recently approved by the State.

“We are proud to play a key role in the ongoing transformation of MassHealth through our participation in both the ACO and MCO programs,” said Kate Walsh, Chief Executive Officer of BMC Health System. “As an organization that supports the full scope of the health care delivery system, we are committed to advancing patient-centered, integrated care for MassHealth members and ensuring that this critical program is sustained well into the future.”
