Alere Inc. (NYSE: ALR) announced today that Abbott's acquisition of Alere is intended to close on October 3, 2017. The announcement follows receipt of all regulatory clearances necessary for closing.

Alere intends to request that the New York Stock Exchange cease trading of Alere's common stock before market open on October 3, 2017.
