Skanska "Intern Day of Service"

Employees and interns from Skanska’s Boston office recently volunteered at St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children in Dorchester, MA, as part of the company’s annual “Intern Day of Service.”

St. Mary’s Center offers family-centered programs for women and children who have experienced trauma and are living in poverty. The Center supports 600 women and children annually with shelter, clinical and educational services, job training, employment placement, and help securing affordable permanent housing.

Employees and interns from Skanska’s Boston office recently volunteered at St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children in Dorchester, MA, cleaning bedrooms, common areas and storage space as part of the company’s annual “Intern Day of Service.” St. Mary’s Center offers programs for women and children who have experienced trauma and are living in poverty.

Skanska’s employees volunteer at St. Mary’s Center continuously throughout the year to ensure the firm has a meaningful impact on the organization. Skanska encourages its employees to engage in activities that reflect their personal interests and commitments, whether it’s hosting holiday activities and graduations for the Center’s children or donating resources such as new laptops to replace the Center’s aging desktop computers.

Skanska also contributes pro bono construction services, having recently built out a Sensory Room for children with autism. In addition, they assisted with a feasibility study for a new addition to the Center as well as an overall engineering review to assess potential for energy savings on the campus.
