GZA, a multi-disciplinary firm providing environmental, geotechnical, ecological, water and construction management services, today announced that Scott Breen, P.E. has joined the company’s Waukesha, WI office as a Senior Consultant.

Breen has extensive experience working with and being embedded in the US Army Corps of Engineers Office on projects in greater New Orleans after hurricane Katrina, performing geotechnical levee risk analysis for the City of Dallas, TX which allowed for reaccreditation of their levee system, and levee inspections. He has worked for state departments of transportation including Texas, Minnesota, Maine, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and New York including the New York State Thruway Authority.

Breen’s geotechnical engineering projects include single- and multi-story buildings, parking structures, towers, roadways, railways, airports, bridges, treatment plants, elevated storage tanks, sign structures, slope evaluations, retaining structures (MSE, post and panel, secant, tieback, soil nail and cast-in-place gravity retaining walls), transmission line supports, levees, flood walls, seepage cutoffs, settlement evaluations, forensic evaluations, noise walls, grouting and soil stabilization, levee periodic inspections and levee risk assessments. Breen also worked on the pre-design phase Tappan Zee Bridge project before GZA won the final design.

Breen earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from State University of New York Potsdom and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University. He earned a Master of Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Texas.

Breen and his wife Andrea live in Germantown, WI with their two sons.
