9/10/17

The Boston Business Journal today announced that Curriculum Associates has been named to its 2017 top charitable contributors list for the second consecutive year. In 2016, Curriculum Associates made a historic in-kind donation of the majority of its shares, valued at $129.8 million, to charitable organizations.

"This year's Corporate Charitable Contributors list is the largest the Boston Business Journal has ever assembled. We are incredibly proud of the 94 companies that qualified for the list. They are all outstanding examples of the impact and importance of giving back," said Boston Business JournalMarket President and Publisher Carolyn Jones.

The Boston Business Journal named a record 94 companies that paid out at least $100,000 to Massachusetts-based charities in 2016 to its 2017 top charitable contributors list. The region's top charitable companies, which include in many instances the companies' corporate foundations, were honored at the Boston Business Journal's 12th Annual Corporate Citizenship Awards on Sept. 7 at Fenway Park in Boston.

Curriculum Associates is a deeply philanthropic company with a founding commitment to improve the world of education. Its nearly 50-year dedication to long-term thinking has driven remarkable growth, resulting in the company quintupling in size since 2012. A company committed to serving classrooms and the community in which it operates, Curriculum Associates creates world-class instructional and assessment materials that help students and teachers succeed. Today, the company is leading the adoption of print and digital curriculum for over 17 percent of all K–8 students nationwide, serving more than 6 million students and 300,000 educators across all 50 states.

"2016 was a milestone year for Curriculum Associates' philanthropic efforts, capped off by the decision to 'give our company away' in a donation of majority shares," said Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates. "We are honored to once again be included on the Boston Business Journal's top charitable contributors list and are proud these record gifts to the Boston Foundation and Iowa State University Foundation will support local charities and improve students' lives for generations to come."

Besides awarding top local corporate benefactors, the Corporate Citizenship Awards program also recognized partnerships between for-profit and nonprofit organizations. The Boston Business Journalalso presented its annual CEO Social Leadership Award to a regional executive who has gone above and beyond to innovate and create solutions to the area's hardest community challenges.
