John W. Tympanick
After 26 years with Hospitality Insurance Group, John W. Tympanick, CPA, MST, President and Chief Executive Officer/Director has announced he will be retiring in 2018.
Tympanick announces, “After 26 years helping to create a successful regional multi-line insurance company from its humble beginnings as a single line mono-state JUA, I have decided to retire effective June 2018. Helping the company grow both surplus and premium by approximately 300% and 500% respectively was the most gratifying experience in my professional life. While I look forward to my next challenge, I will always look back fondly during my tenure at Hospitality Insurance Group (HIG). As a growing company, we can only be as successful as the team of colleagues that work every day alongside you, and we had the best! I am very grateful to our independent insurance agencies across all seven states that we operate for their trust, loyalty, and commitment to HIG. I also would like to thank the company’s Board of Directors and especially the former Chairman, E. Thomas McCabe, Jr. and the current Chairman for all of their support over the years which was necessary to make the company into what it is today.”
Starting with the company as a Controller in 1991, John was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 1993, and then President and CEO in January 2005. John is a member of both the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
“John has provided the vision and leadership to bring the company from a joint underwriting association to a strong regional mutual insurance company," says William T. McGrail, the Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors.
