INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Anthem, Inc. has announced Tomas Orozco as president of its Medicare east region. He will oversee Anthem’s Medicare operations in Connecticut, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia. Previously, Orozco served as president of Simply Healthcare’s Medicare business in Florida.

I am confident he will bring the same drive and results to the rest of Anthem’s Medicare business in the east region.”

Tomas joined Simply Healthcare in 2011 as executive vice president of the south Florida market. Four years later, Orozco was appointed president of the Medicare line of business. He oversaw one of the fastest growing Medicare Advantage plans in Florida, with more than 50 percent growth in plan membership over the past 14 months. Orozco also brought more than 75 percent of Simply’s members into value-based provider agreements, recognizing the importance of rewarding patient health outcomes when contracting with clinicians.

He will serve as president of both the Florida plan and Anthem’s Medicare east region until a new president is named for Simply Healthcare.

Prior to Simply Healthcare, Orozco held executive positions at CarePlus Health Plans and worked at Physicians Healthcare Plans, Inc. before that.
