Fish & Richardson Announces Partnership With Milk Stork

8/16/17

Fish & Richardson announced today that the firm has launched a partnership with Milk Stork to provide a breast milk delivery service for nursing mothers employed by the firm who are traveling on business. Through Milk Stork, mothers have access to no-fuss, refrigerated, express shipping or easy toting of breast milk home to baby. The cost of the service is covered by the firm when employees are traveling for Fish business purposes.

"We are thrilled to offer this program and to announce it during National Breastfeeding Awareness Month," said Teresa Lavoie, Ph.D., principal at Fish who chairs the firm's women's initiative, EMPOWER. "We hope that by offering this easy-to-use service, women feel empowered and supported to continue breastfeeding for as long as they choose."

"Returning to work with an infant at home presents immense obstacles. It can be physically and emotionally exhausting," said Corrin Drakulich, principal at Fish and hiring principal of the Atlantaoffice. "But with Milk Stork to ship milk home quickly and effortlessly from business trips, I have one less thing to worry about when I'm on the road. That peace of mind can make all the difference when trying to balance the competing demands of my profession and family life."

Milk Stork is the latest in a comprehensive package of programs Fish provides to support and retain lawyers who have recently had children. Fish is also piloting a 1:1 coaching program for legal staff who are returning to work following parental leave. The pilot program will be offered through Fish's partnership with Life Meets Work, an organization that provides work life programs to improve career satisfaction and employee engagement.

These new resources build upon the firm's history of providing industry-leading programs to retain and advance women. Fish was also one of the original 15 law firms to participate in the pilot OnRamp Fellowship Program, a unique re-entry program that matches experienced women lawyers – many of whom have opted out of the legal field for a period of time to raise children – with law firms for a one-year paid fellowship. Women lawyers who are selected to participate in the highly competitive Fellowship program are provided with a partner advisor at the firm as well as training and career counseling. The firm also provides an infant-care transition program and back-up childcare resources through the Bright Horizons network.
