Ray Belanger, CEO of Bay Copy

Bay Copy, a leading provider of digital document solutions, celebrates its 45th anniversary this summer as the company continues to earn recognition in the industry and expand its market.

Ray Belanger, CEO of Bay Copy, and a resident of Norwell, MA, has served as CEO of this business since 1992. The company was founded in 1972 by his father, Ray Belanger Sr., who retired in the 1990s.

Bay Copy is a recognized leader in the field of Managed Print Services (MPS). The company provides services including the sale, leasing and servicing of copiers and printers, and related technology, to a wide range of industries across the legal, medical/healthcare, banking and financial services, and business-to-business sectors. Their clients include Signature Healthcare, Bridgewater State University, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital- Plymouth the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, Metro South Chamber of Commerce, Quincy Chamber of Commerce and Atrius Health. Bay Copy is an authorized dealer for leading products including Konica Minolta, Lexmark, Muratec and Toshiba. In addition to their market presence on the South Shore and throughout Greater Boston, the firm is known nationally through its involvement in several trade associations. Ray Belanger serves on the Lexmark Dealer Advisory Council, and he is a founding member and former President of the national trade association Select Dealer Group.

Belanger noted, “Our company and our industry continues to promote the MPS model to help businesses save significantly on time, labor and costs, and results in a better quality of document generation.” He added, “That means that Bay Copy has increasingly shifted its model from a company that sells and services office equipment to one that analyzes the costs of a business in document generation and provides an efficiency audit to see what savings can be achieved by leveraging the benefits of technology.

“We have become even closer partners with our customers,” he said, adding “We help them understand how to best use the technology to streamline their work flows, reduce costs and drive productivity.” He added, “And part of that is the idea of converting from the price of equipment to instead the cost-per-page to generate documents, which has shifted our focus in the market.”

He said that, in addition to the migration toward MPS, he has seen an uptick in companies aspiring to become more “paperless,” greater use of high-quality color copiers, and a greater attention to security and protection of data.

Belanger said, “We are proud of this 45-year milestone. I credit much of our success to a great team of professionals, many of whom enjoy great longevity with us. We look forward to what the next years will bring and eagerly anticipate hitting our 50th.”
