Over 5 Million Square Feet of Office Space Owned by TH Real Estate Recognized for Superior Internet Infrastructure with Wired Certification

WiredScore, the company behind the world’s leading rating system for technological capacity in commercial buildings, and TH Real Estate, an affiliate of Nuveen (the investment management arm of TIAA), announced today that TH Real Estate has achieved Wired Certification for its 16-building office portfolio in the New York City and Boston areas. This achievement totals 5,377,000 square feet of Wired Certified commercial space in two highly competitive markets. TH Real Estate is a premier global real estate investment manager with c.$99.1bn in AUM and one of the largest institutional landlords in the United States, and its 16 newly certified properties were evaluated on their superior connectivity, technological infrastructure, and capacity to adopt emerging technologies.

“Many of our tenants depend on more than the Internet. They require technological infrastructure that is efficient, comprehensive and reliable day-in and day-out,” said Kevin Smith, Senior Director, TH Real Estate. “Wired Certification helped us benchmark many of our New York and Boston properties which ensures that we provide unsurpassed connectivity that serves our tenants and keeps our properties competitive and relevant in the market.”

WiredScore is the pioneer behind the internationally-acclaimed Wired Certification standard, which evaluates and distinguishes best-in-class Internet connectivity in commercial buildings. Trusted by tenants the world over, the Wired Certification seal signifies that buildings have been independently evaluated and guaranteed to provide Internet infrastructure that today’s businesses require to thrive.

“Owners and investors are increasingly recognizing the value in displaying their buildings’ technological superiority, and TH Real Estate has done so throughout a significant portion of its portfolio,” said Arie Barendrect, CEO and founder of WiredScore. “With these certifications comes a clear message to the marketplace: TH Real Estate understands the evolving needs of modern tenants, which are largely rooted in fast, reliable Internet connectivity.”

In pursuing Wired Certification, each building was subjected to a scrupulous certification process conducted by a team of leading technicians. Upon completion of an on-site audit that evaluates a building’s number of available Internet service providers, infrastructure redundancy, connection access points, and readiness to improve connectivity, a Wired Certification level is assigned based on the official standards developed by WiredScore and its advisory committee.

Each of 16 TH Real Estate buildings attaining the certification has indicated the presence of advanced technological infrastructure through a mix of aspects that are essential for reliable Internet connections. Theses features include a mix of fixed wireless Internet, multiple points of entry for cabling, and spare capacity for future telecommunications equipments and wiring. Following WiredScore’s on-site assessment, the portfolio earned Wired Certification ranging from Wired Certified to the highest designation, Wired Certified Platinum.
