National Network of Over 1,300 College Campuses Demonstrates Schools’ Commitment to Assessing and Improving Prevention Efforts

EverFi, Inc., the nation’s leading education innovator in prevention and compliance, has announced the launch of the Campus Prevention Network, a nationwide initiative of over 1,300 institutions dedicated to creating safer, healthier campus communities. Through the Campus Prevention Network, schools across the country will take a pledge to adopt the highest standards of prevention related to critical health and safety challenges, including sexual assault and alcohol abuse, and to assess the progress and impact of their efforts.

“With so much recent emphasis on the shortcomings in campus prevention and response efforts, EverFi aims to shift the narrative by highlighting campuses doing exemplary work,” said Rob Buelow, EverFi Vice President of Prevention Education. “The Campus Prevention Network Pledge represents a school’s commitment to addressing their challenges, but also celebrating their strengths.”

As part of this commitment, Campus Prevention Network member schools must complete the Sexual Assault Diagnostic Inventory, a comprehensive research-based assessment of their prevention programs and practices. In partnership with It’s On Us, a DC-based campaign initiated by the Obama administration, EverFi has released the results from nearly 70 colleges and universities that have participated in the Diagnostic Inventory.

"It's On Us is thrilled to work with EverFi on this important project to amplify best practices and areas of strength among our partner schools. EverFi was one of the early partners of the It's On Us campaign, and has been an essential ally in this work,” said Rebecca Kaplan,Director of It’s On Us.

This collaborative report, titled “Charting the Path Forward: National Data Highlights on Promising Trends and Continuing Challenges in Campus Sexual Assault Prevention,” provides unprecedented insights on campus safety initiatives. Campus Prevention Network schools will be published annually to highlight committed member institutions, and exemplary prevention work identified through the Sexual Assault Diagnostic Inventory will be featured and awarded at the Campus Prevention Network Annual Summit in June.

  • Over two-thirds of institutions (69%) are reaching undergraduate students at least once a semester with sexual assault prevention programming, and students are playing an increasingly prominent role in delivering these programs

About It’s On Us

It's On Us is a cultural movement aimed at fundamentally shifting the way we think and talk about sexual assault. It's a rallying cry, inviting everyone to step up and realize that the solution begins with us. Launched in September 2014, It’s On Us works to educate, engage, and empower students and communities across the country to do something, big or small, to end sexual assault. The campaign has three core pillars – consent education, increasing bystander intervention, and creating an environment that supports survivors. Over 410,000 people have taken the It’s On Us pledge online. Students have hosted over 3,000 It’s On Us events on 534 campuses nationwide. Join the movement at ItsOnUs.org.
