Giselle J. Joffre

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Giselle Joffre has joined Foley Hoag LLP as a partner in the Litigation Department and a member of the White Collar Crime & Government Investigations Practice. She will be resident in the firm’s Boston office.

With a focus on the healthcare and financial service industries, Joffre’s practice will concentrate on the defense of corporations and executives facing allegations of fraud and misconduct, including federal felony charges, allegations of False Claims Act violations and securities fraud. She will also provide compliance consulting services and be involved in civil litigation and administrative enforcement matters.

"Giselle has an extensive background in criminal law, agency enforcement, and civil litigation, both on behalf of the government and on behalf of private clients," said Foley Hoag Co-Managing Partner Adam Kahn. "We are delighted that she chose to join our firm."

Joffre most recently served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney within both the Civil and the Criminal Divisions of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston. In this capacity, she investigated civil healthcare fraud and prosecuted a wide variety of federal felony fraud charges, including mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, public corruption and aggravated identity theft.

While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, in addition to her enforcement practice, Joffre was co-chair of the Diversity Committee and a member of the Hiring Committee, for which she organized programming targeting the recruitment and retention of diverse attorneys.

"The exceptional attorneys in Foley Hoag’s White Collar Crime & Government Investigations group are well-known and well-respected in courtrooms across the country, and I look forward to being included among them," said Joffre. "In addition, it was critical for me to join a firm that is working to improve diversity and inclusion in the legal industry. Foley Hoag was the ideal choice."

Prior to her work in the public sector, Joffre was a senior associate in the Boston office of Ropes & Gray, working primarily in the Government Enforcement Practice.

Joffre earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School.
