Verrill Dana is pleased to announce that Kevin O’Connell has been named the new Partner in Charge of its Boston office. O’Connell assumes the role from Den White, who oversaw the law firm’s Boston operations for six years and presided over explosive growth, including a 25% increase in attorney headcount in the last year alone.

“After such a successful 2016, with no turnover in the Boston office and with the addition of six seasoned attorneys to help serve our growing client base, the time seemed right,” said White, in explanation of the leadership change. White, who remains Senior Counsel resident in Boston, added: “As I transition responsibilities to Kevin, I am confident that the firm is positioned well to serve our clientele, including our middle-market business clients, and to continue to grow strategically. Over the last few years, we’ve attracted several partner-level laterals who’ve benefitted from our platform and rate structure and have seamlessly integrated their clients with our diverse practices. We’ve also had success in onboarding associates, who have found here at Verrill Dana a rewarding work-life balance.”

O’Connell has more than 27 years of experience practicing business law and as a valued and trusted advisor, O’Connell serves many of his clients as outside general counsel, advising them regularly regarding financings and contract and commercial matters. He also advises his clients on mergers and acquisitions and other transactional matters.

“Den White has been instrumental in building awareness of Verrill Dana and in implementing the firm’s strategic growth plan. His leadership skills have enabled the firm to assemble all-star talent here in Boston, which in turn has allowed us to build a strong base of wonderful clients who provide us with meaningful work. My goal as Partner in Charge is simply to continue the great work that Den has done,” said O’Connell.

O’Connell is a member of The North American Regional Council of World Services Group, and serves on the boards of directors of both the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island and Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation. He earned his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross and his J.D. from Boston College Law School.
