Boston Senior Home Care Hosts “Well Done Boston 2016” to Fund Programs and Services for Boston’s Low-Income Elders and Disabled Individuals

9/13/16

Following an immensely successful ‘Taste of the Town’ fundraiser in 2014, Boston Senior Home Care (BSHC) is bringing back its one-night celebration of Boston’s culinary scene and most sought-after restaurants. The event, now known as ‘Well Done Boston,’ will take place at Seaport World Trade Center on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6:30-11:00pm.

Jenny Johnson, co-host of NESN’s Dining Playbook, and Kiss 108’s Rich DiMare will emcee the event. DiMare, an esteemed vocalist, will also perform and DJ at the event. Guests will enjoy exclusive, brand new menu items and tastings from some of Boston’s top restaurants, along with cash bar and a live and silent auction. Confirmed participating restaurants for Well Done Boston 2016, to date, include MAST’, Legal Sea Foods, Fuji, Society on High and Tavern Road. Several other Boston area restaurants will be added to the lineup in the coming weeks. State and City officials, members of the BSHC Board of Directors, staff and numerous business partners who work on behalf of BSHC consumers are expected to be in attendance.

For over 40 years, Boston Senior Home Care has provided Boston’s low-income elders and disabled individuals the opportunity to live in their own home by providing care management services and programs to those who wish to remain in their own homes and communities as safely and independently as possible.

“Boston Senior Home Care continues to make a positive impact for elders and disabled individuals who chose to stay in the comfort of their own home rather than exploring alternatives,” said Meg Hogan, CEO, BSHC. “Along with showcasing the restaurants representing the neighborhoods and communities we serve, our goal for Well Done Boston is to raise funds for our client discretionary fund. This fund supports our consumers who are in need of assistance with such items as clothing, bedding, furnishings, transportation, medicine, utility costs, and temporary short-term shelter when no other means of financial support exist.”

Each year, Boston Senior Home Care helps over 7,000 individuals through its various state funded programs and services. However, due to cuts in this year’s State budget, there are many low-income, isolated elders and disabled individuals who need support to remain at home, but will not be able to receive services due to a State-imposed waiting list. Funds raised through Well Done Boston 2016 will also be used to support those individuals.
