Dockwa Raises $2M Seed Funding

7/10/16

Dockwa, an award-winning software company that has revolutionized the leisure boating and marina industry through a seamless reservation platform, announced today that it has raised $2 million in additional seed funding. Dockwa's innovative unified booking platform connects boaters and marinas in real time from coast to coast, allowing them to explore, reserve, and securely pay for a slip or mooring via the platform.

Since launching in May of 2015 with a handful of New England based marinas, Dockwa has grown its network to account from more than 400 marinas in over 22 states and four countries. Furthermore, in its first twelve months of operation, Dockwa facilitated over than 12,000 reservations. In addition to a boating reservation platform, Dockwa is the only service of its kind to offer both a unified booking and marketing platform for marinas, allowing them the ability to optimize operations and increase traffic and revenue.

"We are thrilled by this latest injection of capital, especially during a bit of a tumultuous time for startups raising funding," says Michael Melillo, Founder and CEO of Dockwa. "The fact that Dockwa's latest round of funding was sourced through 70% of our pre-existing investors is a testament to the quality of the team and our achievements to date. We feel as if we have yet to to scratch the surface on what we are capable of delivering. While the early traction is exciting, over the next twelve months, boaters and marinas will be exposed to features that have previously not existed in the space before," adds Melillo.

Over the past year, the platform has been making serious waves in the boating industry with continued plans for expansion. While Dockwa's core functionality remains free, it has recently launched its first premium subscription offering, Dockwa Connect. Priced at $299.00 per month, the new offering arms marina's with world class tools to enhance their customer's experience while simultaneously increasing their asset utilization. One of the platform's customers who solely uses Dockwa to manage inventory has reported a 40% increase over their total 2015 sales, as of June 15th, 2016.

This summer, Dockwa has also expanded to the Midwest, one of the largest and most coveted boating communities in the country, with the addition of 13 locations in Chicago Harbor to the network. As the platform continues its expansion across the United States and the Caribbean, it will continue to add new inventory for its growing network of boaters.
