Mark Duro Named President of the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management

Mark Duro, CRCST, FCS, director of sterile processing operations at New England Baptist Hospital, a Boston-based premier regional provider for orthopedic surgery and the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and disorders, has been named President of the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM).

In this role, Duro will lead the IAHCSMMmission to promote patient safety worldwide by raising the level of expertise and recognition for those in the central service profession.IAHCSMMis made up of over 23,000 members worldwide. “It is a great honor to be elected by my peers to lead such a talented group of professionals,” said Duro. “I am proud to bring my experience and the expertise of New England Baptist Hospital’s groundbreaking infection prevention and control program to IAHCSMM, and to ensure IAHCSMM remains the leading professional organization that supports and educates central service professionals.”

Duro is a member of a number professional organizations including the Massachusetts Chapter of Central Processing Professionals, where he serves as vice president, the Connecticut Central Service Association, and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrument. He has authored numerous journal articles and publications, presented more than 75 educational sessions both nationally and internationally, and was named the IAHCSMM educator of the year in 2012.
