Expectations: The Wall Street consensus is that the company will report 16 cents per share, up 45.5% from a year ago when Sapient reported earnings of 11 cents per share. For the fiscal year, analysts are expecting earnings of 51 cents per share. Revenue is expected to surpass the year-earlier total of $232.5 million by 12.9%, finishing at $262.5 million for the quarter. Expected revenue for the fiscal year is $1.02 billion.
Performance: The company has reported double-digit revenue increases for the past four quarters. Revenue has grown by an average of 24.4% with the biggest jump in the first quarter when revenue increased 30.3% year-over-year. For three straight quarters, the company has seen net income rise. In the most recent quarter, profit increased 33.8% year-over-year. Going back two quarters, net income rose 99.9% in the second quarter and 94.9% in the first quarter. Over the past quarter, the stock price has increased from $12.49 on November 11, 2011 to $13.18. Sapient's best recent streak was when its price gained $1.06 per share between December 21, 2011 and December 27, 2011.
Ratings: Analysts are optimistic about the stock, with 66.7% assigning it a buy rating. Its nearest 10 competitors only average 62.1% buys. The rating has remained unchanged for the past three months.
