Forrester Research (NASDAQ:FORR) is an independent research company providing advice to global leaders in business and technology. Thursday, February 9, 2012, the company will report its fourth quarter earnings.

Expectations: The Wall Street consensus is that the company will report 31 cents per share, up 47.6% from a year ago when Forrester Research reported earnings of 21 cents per share. Analysts are expecting earnings of $1.10 per share for the fiscal year. The company's revenue is expected to beat the year-earlier total of $67.1 million by 13.6% to finish at $76.2 million for the quarter. Projected revenue for the fiscal year is $285.2 million.

Performance: The company has seen rising revenue for the past four quarters. Revenue rose 16.7% to $69.8 million in the third quarter. Looking back further, revenue increased 13.6% year-over-year in the second quarter, 11.1% in the first quarter, and 9.2% in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year. The third quarter's profit growth came after a three-quarter streak of year-over-year profit declines. In the most recent quarter, profit increased by 54.8% year-over-year. Looking back further, profit dropped 20.7% in the second quarter, 49.6% in the first quarter and 28.6% in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year. The stock price has risen slightly over the past quarter to $35.96 from $35.80 on November 8, 2011. Forrester Research's best recent streak was when its price gained $1.69 per share between December 2, 2011 and December 6, 2011.

Ratings: Analysts generally think investors rate Forrester Research a hold, with three of five analysts rating it hold. This rating has been steady for the past three months.
