New pricing criteria help make the Kroc Center's fitness and recreation facilities, classes and programs available to even more community members

Boston, MA - The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center of Boston today announced new membership pricing policies aimed at making its fitness facilities and enrichment programs even more accessible to the community. In addition to deeply discounted financial assistance currently available for households earning less than $50,000 per year and $35,000 per year, the Kroc Center has created a new offering for potential members earning less than $17,000 per year. Adults under the new tier will be charged $8 per month (after a $50 one-time joining fee), while new youth members will be charged $2 per month and new senior members will be charged $5 per month.

The new fees are just a fraction of the center's standard membership fees and provide access to the same programs and benefits the Kroc Center Boston has to offer. Furthermore, the Kroc Center continues to offer community and social services to both members and non-members at no cost, including the after-school Kids FEAST program, complimentary programs for seniors and counseling.

"In these challenging economic times, health, well-being and our community bonds are more important than ever, so we want the Kroc Center's facilities and programs to be available to every single member of our local community, regardless of financial circumstance," said Major Robert Kountz, Salvation Army administrator of the Kroc Center. "We are dedicated to providing financial assistance to as many of our neighbors as possible, based on need and available funds."

While many of the Kroc Center's programs and facilities are available to non-members for a fee, membership provides preferred access to all activities, including unlimited use of the fitness facilities, the largest indoor pool and waterpark in Greater Boston, a rock climbing wall and an educational center. Complete with an NCAA regulation basketball court and top-of-the-line turf field, the Kroc Center also offers youth sports leagues, group exercise programs and arts classes, all at reduced prices for members.

Located in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, the 90,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Kroc Center opened in March 2011, dedicated to helping its community thrive.
