ENFIELD, Conn. -- T. Rowe Price has (Nasdaq:TROW) increased its stake in STR Holdings (NYSE:STRI) to 10.8 percent, worth $63.61 million.
The Baltimore investment firm now holds 4.49 million shares in the solar component manufacturer, up from the 7.07 percent or 2.94 million shares it reported owning as of March 31. T. Rowe Price's Small-Cap Stock and Science & Technology funds held 3.71 percent and 2.24 percent respectively at the time.
T. Rowe Price was founded in 1937 and manages nearly $510 billion in assets. Led by James Kennedy, the organization provides mutual funds, subadvisory services, and separate account management for individual and institutional investors, retirement plans, and financial intermediaries.
Founded in 1944 as a plastic research and development company, STR Holdings now has two core businesses - solar encapsulants manufacturing and quality assurance services. STR offers its PhotoCap solar encapsulants for the photovoltaic (PV) module industry and serves more than 80 customers worldwide.
Led by president and CEO Dennis Jilot, the company expects to report second quarter consolidated net sales in the range of $98 to $101 million compared, down from its prior guidance for its second quarter consolidated net sales of $104 to $110 million.
