NEW YORK -- Business Insider has skimmed off the top stocks from a recent Citigroup Global Equity Quarterly report to its clients, and proclaimed them "The 20 Best Stocks Around The Entire World."

Of the five U.S. companies on the list, American Express (NYSE: AXP) and MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) are the only area companies to appear. BI provides no comment except for Citi's forecast of a 25 percent return on equity for the company's stock and MetLife's "strong market positions and brand awareness."

The other U.S. companies listed were Decatur, Ill.-based Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. (NYSE: ADM); Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC); and Dallas-based Texas Instruments, Inc. (NYSE: TXN).

American Express stock closed at $47.03 on Wednesday, up $1.27. MetLife closed at $31.75, up $1.17.
